An evening stroll.

Hi everyone. I went for a little walk last night since the weather was a little cooler than it has been in a while. It’s been strange for West Virginia – there has been almost no rain in the entire month of August. The grass is dry; the trees are losing their leaves and changing colors. Last night a cool wind was blowing and the leaves were falling all around like it was autumn. After living in Florida for 17 years my favorite thing about the area is the change of seasons!

As we were walking through the field the dogs ran along beside us. We saw a deer and a wild turkey. (There are lots of turkeys here; one day we saw almost 17 along the side of road as we drove by -even the babies.) I love how quiet it is and how the ground rises and falls as you walk. The field we were walking in has a view of the mountains on 3 sides, but you have to be in the right spot to see it. I love how you see something different every day; it makes you want to exercise.

As we were coming up the hill to go back home a small fawn that was hiding in the tall grass jumped up and ran into the woods. I think it scared me more than the deer! My poor heart. :0) It is so cool to see things like that. We’re very lucky that we see more cute animals like bunnies, chipmunks, deer and butterflies than anything else. (Although I did see a beautiful fox walking across an open field yesterday afternoon – that was quite a sight!)

Hope you are finding just as many beautiful things in your day.
